Description
APC APCRBC151 Dubai Replacement Battery Cartridge
The battery light starts flashing on the UPS in the server room.
Nobody panics at first. The office still has power. The server is still running. The internet is working. Then the next small DEWA interruption happens, the UPS gives a long beep, runtime drops faster than expected, and suddenly the team realises the battery warning was not just a reminder.
That is when APCRBC151 becomes urgent. Not because the UPS has failed. Because the UPS is warning you that the internal battery has reached the end of its useful life, and the next outage may not give your server, NAS, switch, or PABX enough time to shut down cleanly.
What the APC APCRBC151 is
The APC APCRBC151 is the genuine replacement battery cartridge for APC Smart-UPS C 1500VA tower models, including the APC SMC1500I and APC SMC1500IC. It replaces the internal battery module inside the UPS and restores backup runtime after the original battery has aged.
This is not an external battery pack. It does not increase runtime beyond the UPS design. It brings the UPS back to normal operating condition. When the old battery can no longer hold charge properly, the APCRBC151 is the correct cartridge to install.
In Dubai offices, APCRBC151 is usually requested for accounting servers, Etisalat or du internet routers, firewall appliances, NAS devices, small switches, VoIP gateways, and PABX systems protected by the SMC1500 series. The UPS may still turn on with an old battery, but that does not mean the battery can carry the load during a real power failure.
Battery warning light flashing?
Treat it seriously. In many Dubai office environments, a flashing replace-battery warning means you have days or a few weeks before runtime becomes unreliable. The UPS may pass power normally, but the battery may not support the connected load during an outage.
Which UPS models use APCRBC151?
APCRBC151 is used with these APC Smart-UPS C tower models:
| UPS Model | Capacity | SmartConnect | Battery |
|---|---|---|---|
| APC SMC1500I | 1500VA / 900W | No | APCRBC151 |
| APC SMC1500IC | 1500VA / 900W | Yes | APCRBC151 |
The SMC1500I and SMC1500IC are 1500VA / 900W line interactive UPS systems. The 1500VA number is the apparent power rating. The 900W number is the real usable power for connected equipment. That matters because battery runtime depends on watts, not the VA number printed on the front of the UPS.
A 300W server load will drain the battery much slower than a 750W load. A UPS running close to full capacity gives only a short shutdown window. A UPS running at 40–60% load gives more time for PowerChute to close applications, save files, and shut the machine down safely.
VA, watts, and battery replacement
Replacing the APCRBC151 battery does not change the UPS rating. Your SMC1500I or SMC1500IC remains a 1500VA / 900W line interactive UPS. What changes is battery health. The UPS can again deliver its expected backup time instead of dropping out early during a power cut.
Why batteries fail faster in Dubai
UPS batteries do not like heat. That is the plain answer.
The APCRBC151 sits inside the UPS chassis. The UPS may be under a desk, inside a cabinet, beside a network rack, or in a small server room where the AC is set too high after working hours. In Dubai, that environment can easily sit above 30°C. In storage rooms or poorly ventilated electrical rooms, the temperature can be higher.
That heat shortens battery life. A battery that might last longer in a cooler climate often gives 2 to 3 years of reliable service in Dubai. Sometimes less, if the UPS sits in a closed cabinet or a server room with weak cooling. The UPS may still show 100% charge, but charge percentage is not the same as battery capacity. An old battery can show full charge and still collapse under load.
This is why Vector Dubai checks the UPS under load after replacement. A battery swap is not finished when the cartridge is inserted. The UPS should be powered, checked, allowed to recognise the new battery, and tested against the actual connected equipment.
Do not wait for the UPS to shut off
A replace-battery warning is an early warning. Waiting until the UPS fails during an outage risks server crashes, database corruption, and network downtime. For offices using Tally, ERP, file sharing, CCTV NVRs, or PABX systems, replace the battery before the next power event.
What happens after APCRBC151 is installed?
After the APCRBC151 is installed, the UPS begins charging the new cartridge. The replace-battery alert clears after the UPS recognises battery health. The unit should then be tested with the connected load to confirm it holds battery mode correctly.
For the SMC1500IC, SmartConnect also helps here. The UPS can report battery status through APC cloud monitoring. That means an office manager or IT admin does not have to physically stand in front of the UPS every week. Battery health, load percentage, input voltage, and events can be checked remotely.
This matters at 2AM. A small outage happens in a JLT office, a DIFC suite, or a warehouse in Jebel Ali Free Zone. The UPS switches to battery. With SmartConnect on the SMC1500IC, the event can be reported instead of being discovered the next morning when someone sees a logged warning.
For the SMC1500I, which does not have SmartConnect, local USB monitoring with PowerChute can still be used for shutdown. The battery cartridge is the same: APCRBC151. The monitoring options are different.

Replacement procedure for APCRBC151
APCRBC151 is a user-replaceable battery cartridge. In a normal office setup, the replacement takes around 10 minutes once the correct cartridge is on site.
The basic process is simple: shut down connected equipment safely, switch off the UPS, disconnect input power, open the battery compartment, remove the old cartridge, connect the new APCRBC151, close the battery cover, reconnect power, and let the UPS charge. The UPS should then be checked for battery status, load percentage, and estimated runtime.
For a small office with a single server, this can be handled quickly. For a site with several UPS units across finance, reception, CCTV, network cabinets, and PABX rooms, we usually recommend a planned battery replacement visit. That avoids one old battery being missed in a back office corner.
Vector Dubai supplies and installs APCRBC151 across Dubai and the UAE. Installation means the old battery is removed, the new cartridge is fitted, the UPS is powered and checked, and the connected load is tested. For SMC1500IC units, SmartConnect status can also be checked after replacement. For monitored servers, PowerChute settings can be reviewed so shutdown still works as expected.
When should you replace APCRBC151?
Replace it when the UPS shows a replace-battery warning, when runtime has dropped, or when the battery is 2 to 3 years old in Dubai conditions. Do not wait for a full failure. Old UPS batteries often look normal until the first real power cut.
APCRBC151 vs replacing the whole UPS
Not every battery warning means you need a new UPS. If your APC SMC1500I or SMC1500IC is otherwise healthy, replacing the battery cartridge is usually the right repair. The UPS electronics, AVR circuit, LCD, outlets, and communication ports can continue working for years after a battery change.
Replace the whole UPS only when there are other signs of ageing: damaged casing, failed display, overload alarms with a normal load, burnt smell, faulty outlets, failed self-test after a confirmed new battery, or repeated input/output faults. In those cases, installing a new APCRBC151 may not solve the real problem.
For most SMC1500 units in Dubai offices, the first battery replacement happens around year 2 or year 3. A second battery replacement may make sense if the UPS is in good condition and the load is still within range. After that, many customers choose to replace the UPS, especially if the connected equipment has changed.
The 70% sizing rule still applies after battery replacement. The compatible SMC1500I and SMC1500IC are 1500VA / 900W UPS units. Keep the connected load below about 630W for better runtime and less stress. If the UPS is running a 750W or 850W load, the APCRBC151 battery may be new, but runtime will still be short because the load is too high.
Battery replacement does not fix undersizing
APCRBC151 restores battery health. It does not turn a 900W UPS into a larger unit. If your server, NAS, firewall, PoE switch, and monitor are already close to 900W, step up to a larger Smart-UPS instead of expecting a new battery to create extra runtime.
Decision guide: APCRBC151, new SMC1500IC, or step up?
Choose APCRBC151 if your existing SMC1500I or SMC1500IC is working normally and only the battery has aged. This is the usual case when the replace-battery light is on, the UPS passes mains power, and there are no hardware fault alarms.
Choose a new APC SMC1500I if your old UPS is damaged, out of warranty, failing self-test even after a battery check, or installed in a hot room where the electronics have also aged. This keeps the same 1500VA / 900W class.
Choose the SmartConnect version if remote monitoring matters. The SMC1500IC reports battery health, power events, and load data through APC cloud monitoring. That is useful when the UPS is in a locked server room, a retail branch, or a small office where nobody checks the UPS display daily.
Step up to a larger Smart-UPS or online double conversion UPS if the load has grown. A 1500VA / 900W line interactive UPS is a good fit for one server, one NAS, a firewall, and light networking. It is not the right fit for multiple rack servers, high PoE load, medical devices, trading systems, or loads needing zero transfer time. For those, start from the Smart-UPS SMT, SMX, SRT, or SRTG range. You can also review the UPS range from the UPS system Dubai hub.
Pricing, supply, and installation in Dubai
APC APCRBC151 pricing is quoted in AED on request. We do not publish a fixed price because stock cost, quantity, delivery location, and installation scope can change. A single battery cartridge for one office is quoted differently from a planned replacement for 12 UPS units across branches.
Vector Dubai supplies APCRBC151 with VAT breakdown, delivery options, and installation support. For Dubai stock, same-day quote is available by WhatsApp. For Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain, delivery and installation scheduling are confirmed with the quote.
Old battery handling matters. UPS batteries should not be thrown into normal office waste. During installation visits, the old battery can be removed from site for proper handling. For procurement teams, this avoids a pile of used UPS batteries sitting under a desk or inside an IT store room.

Frequently asked questions
Which UPS models does APCRBC151 fit?
APCRBC151 fits APC SMC1500I and APC SMC1500IC Smart-UPS C tower models. Both are 1500VA / 900W line interactive UPS units. The SMC1500IC has SmartConnect monitoring. The SMC1500I does not.
My SMC1500IC is showing a replace-battery warning. Do I need APCRBC151 or a new UPS?
If the UPS is otherwise working normally, APCRBC151 is the correct first step. Replace the full UPS only if the unit has hardware faults, damaged outlets, failed display, overload issues with a normal load, or repeated self-test failure after battery replacement.
Can APCRBC151 run my server through a full power outage?
No. APCRBC151 restores the UPS battery, but the SMC1500I and SMC1500IC are still short-runtime UPS units. They are designed to keep equipment running long enough for clean shutdown, not to run a server for hours. Runtime depends on watts connected to the UPS.
My equipment load is 650W. Is APCRBC151 enough, or should I upgrade the UPS?
650W is above the 70% comfort point for a 900W SMC1500 UPS. APCRBC151 will restore battery health, but runtime will still be short at that load. If the load is consistently around 650W or higher, ask for a larger Smart-UPS recommendation.
How long does APCRBC151 last in Dubai?
Typical battery life is 2 to 3 years in Dubai. Heat is the main reason. A UPS in a cooled server room lasts longer than one under a desk, inside a closed cabinet, or in a hot electrical room with weak ventilation.
Can Vector Dubai replace APCRBC151 on the same day?
For Dubai stock and available scheduling, same-day replacement may be arranged. Send the UPS model, location, quantity, and a photo of the battery warning by WhatsApp. We confirm availability and timing with the AED quote.
Is APCRBC151 covered under APC warranty in the UAE?
APC replacement battery cartridges supplied through authorised channels are covered by APC/Schneider Electric warranty terms in the UAE. Warranty handling depends on purchase date, installation condition, and whether the battery has been used within normal UPS operating limits.
Does APCRBC151 improve voltage protection in older Dubai buildings?
The battery itself does not regulate voltage. Voltage correction is handled by the line interactive UPS. But a healthy APCRBC151 battery means the UPS can support the load when voltage dips turn into a battery event, which is common in some older commercial buildings and busy free zones.
Who is the supplier of APC APCRBC151 in Dubai?
