How Starlink Works — The Short Version

Low-Earth Orbit

TDRA Licensed
Starlink Satellite Communications Services L.L.C holds a 10-year UAE licence (No. 2 of 2024) granted by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority. The service is fully legal and regulated in the UAE.
Independent of Etisalat & du
No Etisalat or du account is needed. Starlink operates entirely through its own satellite constellation, independent of ground-based fibre and mobile tower infrastructure. Subscription is directly with Starlink.
Zoom, Teams & Meet Work Fine
Business communication platforms approved by the TDRA — including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Webex — work on Starlink exactly as they do on any UAE internet connection. Same regulations, same compliance.
Not a Fibre Replacement in the City
