What is the difference between BYOD and BYOM in a meeting room?
BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) means a guest or employee shares their laptop screen on the room display wirelessly — no cables. BYOM (Bring Your Own Meeting) goes further: the laptop runs Teams, Zoom or Webex and wirelessly controls the room's camera, microphone and speaker, so the call uses professional audio and video instead of the laptop's built-in hardware. Every BYOM setup is BYOD, but not every BYOD setup is BYOM. VDS supplies and installs both across the UAE.
Wireless presentation vs wireless video conferencing — which do I need?
Wireless presentation shares your screen to the room display for slides and content. Wireless video conferencing does that and also connects the room camera, microphone and speaker to your laptop for hybrid calls. If your rooms are used for video meetings with remote participants, you need wireless conferencing (BYOM). If the room is presentation-only with no remote callers, wireless presentation (BYOD) is enough. VDS helps you match the right system to each room.
Do guests need to install software to share their screen?
For screen sharing (casting), no software is required — guests connect via AirPlay, Miracast, or a USB-C dongle with one click. For full wireless conferencing (BYOM) where the guest also controls the room camera and microphone, some systems require a lightweight app on first connection. VDS configures this during installation so your team and guests can connect in seconds.
Does it work with Microsoft Teams and Zoom?
Yes. Wireless conferencing is platform-agnostic — Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Webex and any other video conferencing application running on the guest's laptop will use the room's camera, microphone and speaker once the wireless link is active. There is no platform lock-in.
Can a wireless system use our existing meeting room camera?
Yes, if your camera is a standard USB device. Is the wireless connection secure on our company network?
Enterprise wireless conferencing systems support WPA2 encryption, network isolation (separating guest and internal networks on dual Ethernet ports), and operate without requiring guests to join the company Wi-Fi. How fast does it connect — will guests still wait?
No waiting. ClickShare connects in approximately 7 seconds from plugging in the Button to presenting. eShare connects in one click via the dongle — roughly the same. The whole point is that the meeting starts when the people sit down, not when the cable is found. Both systems are faster than the time it takes to locate an HDMI adapter in a meeting room drawer.
Our IT team says guest laptops cannot join our company Wi-Fi. How does it handle that?
This is exactly what these systems are built for. Enterprise wireless conferencing systems include network isolation — two separate Ethernet ports, one for the internal company network and one for the guest network. Guests connect and present without ever touching your internal infrastructure. The eShare W90 has dual Gigabit Ethernet with network isolation built in. ClickShare operates on its own secure wireless channel separate from your corporate Wi-Fi. VDS configures the network separation during installation so your IT policy is respected from day one.
Does it need a fast internet connection to work?
No. Wireless presentation and conferencing run on your local office network — not over the internet. You do not need fast internet; you need a stable local Wi-Fi signal in the meeting room. Most connectivity issues are caused by a weak Wi-Fi signal in the room itself, not by internet speed. VDS assesses your room's network environment during installation and advises on access point placement if needed to ensure a stable local signal.
Can people share from an iPhone or Android tablet, not just a laptop?
Yes. Wireless screen sharing works from iOS devices via AirPlay, and from Android devices via Miracast or Google Cast — no app required for casting. A visitor can share their phone screen or an iPad presentation to the room display as easily as a laptop. For full wireless video conferencing (BYOM) where the room camera and microphone connect back to the device, laptop support is the primary path; mobile BYOM depends on the specific system and platform.
What if two people need to present at the same time?
The eShare W90 supports quad-view — up to four screens displayed simultaneously on one monitor. A presenter, a remote participant's video feed, a shared document, and a second laptop can all appear on screen at the same time. For training rooms and collaborative sessions where multiple sources need to be visible at once, this removes the back-and-forth of switching between presenters. ClickShare also supports multi-presenter sharing depending on the model.
Do we need to replace our existing TV or display?
No. Wireless conferencing systems connect to your existing display via HDMI — the same cable your current setup uses. If your meeting room already has a TV or monitor, the wireless unit connects to it without any changes to the screen. You are adding the wireless layer on top of what you have, not replacing the display. VDS installs onto existing screens across all room types — from a small 55-inch TV in a huddle room to a large 86-inch display in a boardroom.
How long does installation take? Will it disrupt the office?
A standard single-room wireless conferencing installation takes two to four hours including mounting, cabling, network configuration, and testing. There is no major disruption — the room is out of service only during the installation window. Multi-room rollouts are scheduled room by room to keep the rest of the office running. VDS books installation outside peak meeting hours where required and hands over a tested, working system before leaving.
What is the difference between ClickShare and eShare — which should we choose?

Can IT manage and update all the units remotely without visiting each room?
Yes. ClickShare uses Barco XMS Cloud — every unit across every room and every floor is managed from a single dashboard. Firmware updates, device status, usage analytics, and configuration changes are all done remotely. eShare has a web-based management interface per unit. For organisations with five or more meeting rooms, remote management eliminates the need for IT to physically visit rooms for routine maintenance and updates. VDS configures remote management during installation and trains your IT team on the dashboard.
Does it work with Etisalat and du office internet connections in the UAE?
Yes. Wireless conferencing systems work on any local office network regardless of the internet service provider — Etisalat, du, or any other UAE connectivity provider. The wireless conferencing traffic runs locally between devices in the room and does not depend on internet speed or ISP routing. What matters is the quality of the Wi-Fi access points inside the office. VDS has installed wireless conferencing in offices across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah on both Etisalat and du business connections without any provider-specific issues.
